Queridos amigos Talking about the weather is interesting in Spanish, as they do not use the verb “to be “ as we do, saying “it is hot”, “ it is cold” etc. In Spanish we use the verb “hacer”, (ah-ther) to do or make. Eg “Hace calor”- (ah-they ka-lor)- Its hot- (literally “it makes heat”) “Llover” – (yo-ver) is the verb “to rain”, and is an interesting dipthong or stem-changing verb. It is an “er” verb and regular in its endings, but in the present tense the “o” stem changes to “ue”. Here is some other weather vocabulary and sundry vocabulary Rain – (la) lluvia - yoo-bee-ah Now translate this short sentence - Today is very cold and it is raining a lot. I will give you the answer next time - Happy practising!! |
