We are show-casing the poems of author David Upton. His recent book of over 50 poems is David himself emigrated almost 3 years ago and settled in La Alfoquia, Almeria, with his wife of 43 years, Pam. They have a police inspector son and a teacher daughter, and have a grand-daughter and two grandsons. David worked in education for 39 years (until a heart attack and a triple bypass!) the last 20 years as a Primary School Headteacher. He has enjoyed writing for most of his life, but retirement has allowed him the time to write this first book of poetry dedicated to life in Spain. The inspiration for this book of poems derives from David’s personal experiences of Almerian life. His poetry celebrates the unique beauty of the area and the warmth of the local Spanish people; and the resolve and humour demonstrated by the people who emigrate from the UK and settle here in Almeria. His poetry also reflects the many challenges and frustrations of emigration! Happy reading—just enjoy!
